Jesse Tree

What’s a Jesse Tree?

Have you ever heard of a “family tree”? A family tree traces a family back in history. So your family tree would show your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc., as well as all their descendants.

The Jesse Tree is an Advent tradition. It’s kind of like the family tree of Jesus. One of the ancestors of Jesus was King David, and his father’s name was Jesse. That’s where the Jesse Tree gets it name. The Jesse Tree shows the ancestors of Jesus and the other people who looked forward to the coming of the Messiah, Jesus.
You can make tree ornaments with symbols of these people in salvation history. It’s a great way to prepare for the coming of Jesus.
I am going to do a Jesse Tree with the kids this year. I have had this kit for many years and have always meant to do it, but for some reason it has never come together. Here's some pics of our tree, which I used nearly a whole can of my gold paint on (that gold paint is getting a lot of use lately!), and our ornaments that I glued to cardstock and tied ribbons on.

That's a nice Jesse Tree and a real nice shed out your window. You must have a very talented husband.
