Triptychs

My kids receive Magnifikid. Every few weeks they have a neat art project or craft in the back. They are usually simple, but meaningful. A few weeks ago, the project was "Triptychs." So we finally got around to making them. Ours are on cardboard spray-painted gold (I am getting alot of use out of that can of gold paint!). A triptych (pronounced 'trip-tick') is a work of art that is painted onto three panels, all attached to each other in a way that allows the side panels to move. Closed, it resembles a box or a chest which is suspended on the wall. When it is open, it reveals a work of art that encourages the viewer to pray or to meditate.
The copy of the painting is a well-known painting called "The Trinity." It was painted by Roublev, a Russian monk from the 15th century. It shows three identical characters who represent the Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. On the side panels or our triptych, I printed the prayer to the Trinity for the kids to paste.
