7 Quick Takes Friday - 11-11-11

1.
Today is 11-11-11 - Veteran's Day.  Just givin' a shout out to all those who have served our country in the military.

2.
My husband came home from elk hunting yesterday - his group got 2 spikes and a branch bull (that's lingo for all you elk hunters that read my blog - ha!).  They were gone 1 week and it is nice to have him home.

3.
My boy is an apple pie maker.  He can do it all by himself now.  He made a pie last night to welcome his dad home.  And it was really good!

4.
My daughter's wedding album is complete.  We started it last Friday night, and she came over again last night and we got it finished.  The photography was our large contribution to their wedding, so it was nice to see that through to the end and get all those beautiful pictures into an album.  That means we are officially done with all wedding stuff.

5.
Speaking of the wedding (one last time), tomorrow is 11-12-11, the original date that my daughter was wanting to have her wedding.  She originally chose that date because it would be the first weekend after she turned 21;  but when we reminded her that it would be hunting season, they moved it up to October 8th.  But seeing as how my husband came home last night, he could have made it to the wedding after all, right??

6.
And speaking of photos, I got the kids "school" pictures taken and picked them up on Wednesday.  I keep their current year's photos on the wall in the living room.  When I have new photos taken I put the old ones into their album.  It's always fun to change them out and look back - the biggest change this year is Boyson.  He is looking a lot less like a little boy, and a lot more like a young man.   <Sigh>  It's sad and happy all at the same time.

7.
Boyson got his first quarter Seton book report finished this week.  If your children have ever been Seton Home Study School students, you know what this means.  We wrangled with it a lot - and I finally called a Seton counselor for help in the end.  Why don't I do that more often?  The counselor was such a huge help and it was like a light went on for both Boyson and me.  It gives me hope for the future of our homeschooling journey - and that, my friends, is huge for me!
