Today's writing assignment . . .

We have been using Ancient History Based Writing Lessons for Boyson this year.  I am mildly familiar with the technique used by the Institute for Excellence in Writing, so this particular book hasn't been too difficult to implement on its own.

Today Boyson wrote a paragraph, using only his keyword outline.  This is a 1st attempt rough draft.  I would say this writing instruction method is looking successful.

"Gilgamesh, King of Urek, was on his final Quest to find a plant that would let him live forever. He had searched everywhere: rocky mountains, the vast deserts, and the sea for the plant of life. Eventually he came to the turbulent Euphrates River so he fastened rocks to his ankles and jumped in. As the current speedily carried him he saw a luminous object in the distance. He only had one chance to grab it so when he came near he reached out and gave it a death grip then pulled. It was cover in thorns but that didn’t matter and he didn’t let go. Then he loosed the rocks from his ankles and swam up to the surface. He had succeeded!"
